Solusi University

Solusi University is a coeducational private university located in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe.

This institution, nestled in the countryside near Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, has a rich history that began in 1894. It started as a small mission station established by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, one of the first of many such missions around the world. The land it occupied was named after a local chief, reflecting its connection to the community. In its early years, the mission faced challenges, including war and famine that affected the region. Despite these hardships, it persevered and grew, becoming a center for training church workers. The individuals trained at this mission went on to establish other missions in the region and beyond, spreading their influence.

As the church's activities expanded, so did the need for more advanced education. In the 1920s, a teacher training program was introduced, followed by secondary school training in the 1940s. By the mid-20th century, the institution was offering bachelor's degrees, aiming to equip church leaders with the skills needed for a growing and increasingly educated population. To further enhance its academic standards, the institution sought and achieved affiliation with a university in the United States in the 1980s. This partnership led to significant growth, with new programs and a substantial increase in student enrollment.

In the 1990s, the institution applied for recognition as a full-fledged university. After rigorous evaluations and assessments, it was granted a charter by the government in 1994, marking a pivotal moment in its history. This achievement made it the first private institution of higher education in the country. Today, this institution stands as a testament to its enduring commitment to education and community development. It continues to offer a wide range of academic programs, attracting students from diverse backgrounds and contributing to the growth and progress of Zimbabwe.
