Central University of Venezuela

The Central University of Venezuela (UCV) is a public university located in Caracas, Venezuela.

The history of the Central University of Venezuela (UCV) dates back to 1673, when it was founded as the Colegio Santa Rosa de Lima. The school was granted university status in 1721, becoming the Universidad Real y Pontificia de Caracas. UCV was initially located in the center of Caracas, but in 1945, construction began on a new campus, Ciudad Universitaria de Caracas, designed by architect Carlos Raúl Villanueva.

Ciudad Universitaria was officially inaugurated in 1958, and it quickly became one of the most iconic examples of modernist architecture in Latin America.
