Pontifical Urbaniana University, often referred to simply as the Urbaniana, is an eminent pontifical university located in Rome, Italy.
Founded in 1627 by Pope Urban VIII, this is one of the oldest schools that were created with a view to the missionary work of the Catholic Church. At first named the Urban College, it had been established by the Congregation for Evangelization of Peoples. The original aim of this College was to see that missionaries were educated and formed to go to non-European territories.
