Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers is a public university in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
The history of the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers (TIIAME) dates back to the Soviet Union. The university was first established in 1923 as the department of Turkistan State University. It was created under the technical faculty and was called Hydro Technical Engineering.
In 1926, the department was separated from Turkistan State University and became an independent institute, the Central Asian Institute of Irrigation and Cotton Growing. The institute was renamed several times over the years, but its focus on water resources management and agricultural engineering remained the same.
In 1946, the institute was divided into two faculties: the Faculty of Mechanization of Hydro Melioration Works and the Faculty of Automating the Agricultural Industry. In 1962, the two faculties were merged to form the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers.
TIIAME grew rapidly during the Soviet era and became one of the leading universities in Central Asia in the field of water resources management and agricultural engineering. The university trained thousands of engineers and scientists who played a key role in the development of the Soviet agricultural sector.
After the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, TIIAME continued to operate as a leading university in Uzbekistan. The university has adapted to the new economic and political realities of Uzbekistan and has continued to produce high-quality graduates.
In 2004, TIIAME was awarded the status of a national research university. The university has a strong research focus and is involved in a number of national and international research projects. TIIAME also has a number of research centers and laboratories, including the Center for Water Resources Management, the Center for Renewable Energy, and the Center for Precision Agriculture.
TIIAME is a prestigious university and its graduates are in high demand in the Uzbek and Central Asian job markets. The university's alumni include many prominent figures in government, industry, and academia.
