ISBAT University was known formerly as the International School of Business and Technology (ISBAT), a private university located in Kampala, Uganda.
The university began to operate as a post-secondary institution in 2005 with accreditation from Sikkim Manipal University in India, which allowed ISBAT the license to deliver programs and afford degrees that were graded by the Indian university. The partnership provided a solid academic foundation and some level of standard for an international education. It also permitted the university to identify as an institution that could be viable in Uganda and internationally. In 2013, the institution achieved a major academic recognition when it attained recognition as an “Other Degree Awarding Institution” (ODAI), which authorized the university to issue its own degrees. At this pointed recognition was a major first step toward academic independence. It demonstrated the university’s commitment to academic integrity, its ability to manage programs, and independence. It signified that the university was moving into a new era of innovation and academic growth with respect to providing local and regional needs.
In 2015, the university moved to its present metropolitan campus with sophisticated and up-to-date facilities. This change gave students and staff the chance to study and work at a university with a modern look and positive learning experience. The urban center includes state-of-the-art facilities such as lecture halls, research space, and recreational facilities. The university increasingly recognized the importance of the center, and it has become an emblem of the university's achievement and its mission to achieve academic excellence. In 2016 the university achieved another milestone in its development as it became recognized by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (UNCHE) as a fully-fledged university. This was crucial in the position of the institution as one of higher learning institutions providing university education with the power of attracting talented academic for higher education. The university continues to build on its earlier achievements, and now pursues opportunities to contribute to education, research, and community development.
