The University of Tunis El Manar (UTM) is a public university located in Tunis, Tunisia.
The University of Tunis El Manar (UTM) was founded in 2000, but its history can be traced back to the early 20th century. In 1910, the French colonial government established the School of Law and Political Science in Tunis. This was the first institution of higher education in Tunisia.
In 1922, the School of Medicine was established, followed by the School of Science in 1924. In 1960, these three schools were merged to form the University of Tunis.
The University of Tunis grew rapidly after independence in 1956. New faculties were established, and the number of students and faculty members increased significantly.
In 1987, the University of Tunis was split into three separate universities: the University of Sciences, Technologies, and Medicine of Tunis (UTM), the University of Tunis El Khadra, and the University of Tunis Carthage.
UTM continued to grow and develop after the split. New faculties were established, and the university's research output increased. In 2000, UTM was renamed the University of Tunis El Manar.
UTM is a relatively young university, but it has quickly established itself as one of the leading universities in Tunisia and the Mediterranean region. The university is committed to providing its students with a high-quality education and to conducting cutting-edge research.
