National Engineering School of Tunis

The National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT) is the oldest engineering school in Tunisia.

The history of the National Engineering School of Tunis (ENIT) dates back to 1968, when it was founded by Mokhtar Latiri. At the time, it was known as the École Normale Supérieure de l'Enseignement Technique (ENSET) and was accredited as a higher education institution that trained professors in electrical engineering and industrial science.

In 1994, educational reforms in Tunisia mandated the transformation of ENSET into the École Supérieure des Sciences et Techniques de Tunis (ESSTT). In 2003, the ESSTT subscribed to the LMD reforms, which are a system of higher education based on three cycles: license (3 years), master (2 years), and doctoral (3 years).

In 2011, the ESSTT was renamed the École Nationale Supérieure d'Ingénieurs de Tunis (ENIT), reflecting its new status as an engineering school with both undergraduate and graduate programs. ENIT has played a key role in the development of engineering education in Tunisia. It has produced generations of highly skilled engineers who have gone on to make significant contributions to the country's economy and society.

Today, ENIT is one of the leading engineering schools in Tunisia. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of engineering disciplines, and its graduates are in high demand by employers in both Tunisia and abroad. ENIT also has a strong research focus, with active research groups in a wide range of engineering fields.
