Mahamakut Buddhist University

Mahamakut Buddhist University is one of the two public Buddhist universities in Thailand.

Mahamakut Buddhist University (MBU) boasts a rich history dating back to 1893. Founded by King Chulalongkorn, it emerged as a pivotal institution dedicated to Buddhist scholarship and education in Thailand. Initially named Pali College, it underwent several transformations before becoming a full-fledged university in 1997. MBU's establishment marked a significant shift, transitioning Buddhist education from a monastic sphere to a more formalized academic setting.

While MBU upholds Buddhist principles, campus life offers a unique blend of tradition and modernity. The serene atmosphere fosters contemplation and spiritual growth. MBU's motto, "Academic Excellence based on Buddhism" (translated from "ความเป็นเลิศทางวิชาการตามแนวพระพุทธศาสนา" ), reflects its core mission.
