Asian University of Science and Technology

Asian University of Science and Technology, located in Thailand, had a relatively short but impactful history before its closure in 2017.

Founded in 1993 by Viphandh Roengpithya, Asian U initially enjoyed collaboration with Imperial College London. Its aim was to become a leading provider of high-quality international higher education. The university used English as its primary language of instruction and attracted students from various Asian countries.

During this period, Asian U experienced significant growth in its student body and academic offerings. It established partnerships with other international universities, expanded its faculty, and gained recognition for its rigorous curriculum and research activities. The campus, located near Pattaya, offered modern facilities and a vibrant international community.

Unfortunately, the university faced financial difficulties in the later years. Despite efforts to restructure and attract funding, the challenges proved insurmountable. In 2017, after much deliberation, the university council, with approval from the Ministry of Education, made the difficult decision to cease operations.

Though short-lived, Asian U left a lasting mark on the landscape of higher education in Thailand. Its commitment to internationalization, academic excellence, and fostering a diverse learning environment continues to inspire other institutions. Many of its alumni went on to achieve success in various fields, carrying forward the university's spirit of innovation and achievement.
