Jordan University College

Jordan University College is a constituent college of St. Augustine University of Tanzania, located in Morogoro, Tanzania.

This institution has its roots in the vision of religious leaders in Tanzania who recognized the need for a higher education institution to serve their communities, particularly those aspiring to the priesthood. The seeds of this vision were sown in 1988 during a meeting of religious superiors in Tanzania. In 1990, a commitment was made to establish a seminary that would offer programs in philosophy and theology. The institution was placed under the patronage of a significant figure in the founding organization, and with permissions secured from religious authorities, plans were set in motion. Construction began in 1991, and by mid-1993, the facilities were ready to welcome the first students into the philosophy program.

The initial faculty consisted of lecturers from various religious orders and countries, reflecting the diverse and international nature of the institution from its early days. The student body also represented a variety of religious orders, growing steadily in the following years. Throughout the 1990s, the institution expanded its offerings and gained affiliations with prestigious universities, further solidifying its academic standing. By the late 1990s, the student population had grown significantly, and the faculty had also expanded to include both religious and lay teachers. In the early 2000s, the institution underwent a transformation, evolving from a seminary focused primarily on philosophy and theology to a more comprehensive college offering a wider range of academic programs. This transition reflected the institution's commitment to serving the broader community and providing opportunities for diverse fields of study.

In 2010, a significant milestone was reached when the institution became a constituent college of a well-established university in Tanzania. This marked a new chapter in its history, further enhancing its academic reputation and expanding its reach. Today, the institution stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders and continues to provide quality higher education to students from all backgrounds.
