National Taiwan University of Science and Technology
National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), also known as Taiwan Tech, is a public vocational university located in Taipei, Taiwan.
The National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), also known as Taiwan Tech, was founded on August 1, 1974, as the National Taiwan Institute of Technology (NTIT). It was the first higher education institution of its kind within our nation's technical and vocational education system.
NTIT was established to meet the need created by Taiwan's rapid economic and industrial development for highly trained bachelor's degree-level engineers and managers. In 1979 and 1982, NTIT added master's and doctoral programs, respectively.
On August 1, 1997, NTIT was upgraded to university status and changed its name to the "National Taiwan University of Science and Technology." In 2020, NTUST established the College of Industry-Academia Innovation to promote collaboration between industry and academia.
NTUST is known for its strong engineering and technology programs. It is also home to a number of research centers, including the Center for Micro/Nano Technology, the Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing, and the Center for Green Energy Technology.
NTUST has a large number of international students, with over 10% of its student body coming from outside of Taiwan. The university offers a number of English-taught programs, making it a popular choice for international students.
Based on the QS World University Rankings of 2024, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology is positioned as the #387 top university in the world, which makes it the #5 top university in Taiwan.
