National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) is a public research university in Taiwan. It is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan.
National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) was founded in 1922 during the Japanese colonial era (1895-1945) as Taiwan Provincial College. It was the first university in Taiwan to be established under Japanese rule, and was originally intended to train teachers for the colonial government.
In 1945, after the end of World War II and the return of Taiwan to China, the college was renamed Taihoku Teachers College. In 1946, the college was upgraded to university status and renamed Taiwan Provincial Normal University. In 1967, the university was nationalized and renamed National Taiwan Normal University.
Throughout its history, NTNU has played a leading role in the development of education in Taiwan.
Today, NTNU is one of the most prestigious universities in Taiwan. It is a highly selective university, and admission is based on a combination of academic performance and entrance exam scores. The university has a strong international reputation, and attracts students from all over the world.
