Sudan University for Science and Technology

Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) is a public university in Khartoum, Sudan.

Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST) traces its roots back to 1902 when the Khartoum Technical School and School of Commerce were established in colonial Sudan. These institutions aimed to provide vocational training in various fields, including carpentry, masonry, and accounting. In 1932, the School of Radiology was founded, followed by the School of Design in 1946. These schools were later merged with the Khartoum Technical School in 1950 to form the Khartoum Technical Institute (KTI). KTI expanded its offerings to include engineering, architecture, and other technical disciplines.

The Shambat Institute of Agriculture was established in 1954, followed by the Khartoum Senior Trade School in 1962 and the Institute of Music and Drama in 1969. The Higher Institute of Physical Education was also added in 1969. In 1975, these institutions were merged to form Khartoum Polytechnic Institute (KP). KP continued to expand its programs and facilities, becoming a leading institution for technical and vocational education in Sudan.

In 1990, KP was upgraded to university status and renamed Sudan University of Science and Technology (SUST). This marked a significant milestone in the institution's history, recognizing its academic achievements and contributions to higher education in Sudan. Since its establishment, SUST has undergone remarkable growth and transformation.
