Neelain University

Al Neelain University is a public university located in Khartoum, Sudan.

Al Neelain University was established by presidential decree on March 13, 1993. The university was named after the two Niles rivers, the Blue Nile and the White Nile, which converge in Khartoum, Sudan. The university's first chancellor was Dr. Hassan Hussein Mohammed. The university began with five faculties: the Faculty of Arts, the Faculty of Science, the Faculty of Education, the Faculty of Law, and the Faculty of Islamic Studies. The university's first classes were held in temporary accommodations in Khartoum.

In 1994, the university moved to its permanent campus in Khartoum North. The campus consists of over 100 buildings, including classrooms, laboratories, libraries, and student housing. The university has expanded rapidly since its founding. In 2012, the university had 18 faculties and a total enrollment of 47365, making it the second biggest university in Sudan.

The university also has a number of research centers, including the Al Neelain Medical Research Center and the Al Neelain Institute for Humanitarian, Economic and Legal Studies.

Al Neelain University is accredited by the National Council for Higher Education in Sudan. The university is also a member of the Association of African Universities and the Federation of the Universities of the Islamic World.
