South Eastern University of Sri Lanka

South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL) is a public university located in Oluvil, Sri Lanka.

SEUSL's story begins in 1995, amidst the backdrop of the Sri Lankan Civil War. Recognizing the need for educational opportunity in the war-affected eastern region, the University Grants Commission established the South Eastern University College as a haven for displaced students and academics from the Eastern University.I nitially operating from temporary facilities in Batticaloa, the University College persevered, admitting its first batch of students in 1995. Soon after, it moved to its permanent home in Oluvil, a picturesque coastal town overlooking Oluvil Harbour..

In 1996, just a year after its inception, the University College's dedication and potential were recognized. Through a gazette notification, it was officially transformed into the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka, marking a significant milestone in its journey. 

SEUSL's unwavering commitment to providing quality education, fostering research and innovation, and serving the community has made it a beacon of hope in the eastern region. From its humble beginnings as a wartime refuge to its current status as a leading university, SEUSL continues to write a remarkable chapter in Sri Lanka's educational landscape.
