Sudo International University

Sudo International University is located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

The institution's history is marked by significant milestones that highlight its growth and evolution. It began in 1993 with the establishment of Kukje Theological Seminary under the leadership of Rev. Won Na and Dr. Sangup Kim. Early on, the seminary focused on providing theological education, eventually merging with the Pastoral Theological Seminary in 1997. This merger enabled the institution to expand its offerings and gain the permission to establish the Kukje School educational foundation. The seminary continued to develop, with leadership changes, including the appointment of Rev. Hyosik Moon as the second director in 1995, and the establishment of the Institute of Social Education in 1999.

In the 2000s, the institution’s expansion continued with the establishment of Kukje Graduate School of Theology in 1999. This move was granted by the Ministry of Education, paving the way for a broader academic framework. By 2001, the institution introduced several new graduate programs, including Master’s and Doctorate degrees in theology, social welfare, and counseling. In the following years, the university further strengthened its academic structure with the introduction of specialized programs like the Credit Bank system for undergraduate studies and the Master of Theology program, signaling its commitment to diverse educational offerings. Leadership changes also occurred, with Rev. Sinhyung Um becoming the second chancellor in 2001, followed by Rev. Sungkyu Jung in 2003, and the university was recognized as a model managing organization by the Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development in 2005.

As the institution moved into the 2010s, it continued its expansion with new initiatives, such as the introduction of the Master of Christian Counseling program in 2011 and the launch of an English-language program for theology at the master’s and doctorate levels. The 2010s also saw significant leadership changes, with Rev. KyuSeop Kim becoming the sixth chancellor in 2009, and Rev. Sung-Sam Ahn assuming the role of seventh chancellor in 2016. The university’s focus on community outreach, research, and fostering an inclusive learning environment has continued to solidify its position as a respected institution in the field of theological education. Through its history, the university has adapted to changing educational needs and has remained committed to providing quality academic programs that address societal and community needs.
