Sudo International University

Sudo International University, located in Seoul, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea.

It began in 1993 with the establishment of Kukje Theological Seminary headed by Rev. Won Na and Dr. Sangup Kim. In attempting to give a theological education, the seminary merged with the Pastoral Theological Seminary in 1997, which enabled the institution to expand and gain permission to establish the Kukje School educational foundation. The seminary continued to grow, with changes of leadership, including the appointment of Rev. Hyosik Moon as the second director in 1995, and the establishment of the Institute of Social Education in 1999. The Kukje Graduate School of Theology was founded in the 2000s. The 1999 permission was granted by the Ministry of Education, enabling a vastly broader academic framework.

By 2001, the institution have endowed a horde of graduate programs-in theology, social welfare, and counseling with Master's and Doctorate degrees. In the coming years the university would further strengthen its academic structure by developing specialized programs, such as the Credit Bank System for undergraduate studies and the Master of Theology program, which would reinforce its commitment to providing very wide-ranging educational opportunities. There were also changes in leadership, with Rev. Sinhyung Um becoming the second chancellor in 2001 and Rev. Sungkyu Jung in 2003, while by 2005 the university was recognized- for a contrasted simulation- as a model managing organization by the Ministry of Education & Human Resource Development.

Consequently, it entered the 2010s with an impressive record of growth, piloted by a couple of new ventures: the Master's Degree in Christian Counseling in 2011 and a brand-new curriculum based in English for the master's and doctoral programs in Theology. Added leadership changes occurred during the 2010s: the Rev. KyuSeop Kim became the sixth chancellor in 2009, while Rev. Sung-Sam Ahn became the seventh one in 2016. The outreach to its community, its research, and the creation of an inclusive space for learning continued to promote the growth of the institution into the field of respect, surrounding theological education. Over the years, in the past, the university has also kept track of the changes in the educational demands by conforming to the same and remaining committed to imparting quality academic programs toward meeting the needs of society and the community.
