POSTECH, founded in 1986 by POSCO, is a private research university in Pohang, South Korea. It is known for its strong focus on science and engineering, and is consistently ranked among the top universities in South Korea and Asia.
POSTECH's history can be divided into three main periods: founding and early growth (1986-1995), rapid growth and internationalization (1996-2010), and consolidation and excellence (2011-present). During the first period, POSTECH focused on establishing its academic programs and research infrastructure, as well as recruiting a world-class faculty and student body. The second period saw rapid growth in the university's student population, research funding, and international reputation. POSTECH also established several new academic programs and research centers during this time.
