Gimcheon University is a private institution of higher education located in Gimcheon, South Korea.

The university was established in 1978 as a Junior College of Business by the Shincheon Board of Directors. At first, its concentration was on dedicated programs in business, aimed at getting students prepared to enter the workforce. The college soon gained a reputation for a practical style of education that focused on hands-on training with exposure to industry. As the college grew and developed a positive reputation, it began to expand its academic offerings to accommodate a developing job market. In 2000, Gimcheon University was designated "The Best College of Health Science (A )" by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Korean Council for College Education. This designation recognized the college's contribution to health science education and indicated that the college achieved academic standards that exceeded national benchmarks. The designation also fortified college standing as being a leader in health science education and attracting future students from across the country. Thus, the recognition reinforced the college's footing as an educational institution in Korea.

In the year 2001, the university received the title of "Business Incubation Supporting Institution" by the Small and Medium Business Administration.
