Gimcheon University

Gimcheon University is a private institution of higher education located in Gimcheon, South Korea.

The university was established in 1978 as a Junior College of Business by the Shincheon Board of Directors. At first, its concentration was on dedicated programs in business, aimed at getting students prepared to enter the workforce. The college soon gained a reputation for a practical style of education that focused on hands-on training with exposure to industry. As the college grew and developed a positive reputation, it began to expand its academic offerings to accommodate a developing job market. In 2000, Gimcheon University was designated "The Best College of Health Science (A )" by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, and the Korean Council for College Education. This designation recognized the college's contribution to health science education and indicated that the college achieved academic standards that exceeded national benchmarks. The designation also fortified college standing as being a leader in health science education and attracting future students from across the country. Thus, the recognition reinforced the college's footing as an educational institution in Korea.

In the year 2001, the university received the title of "Business Incubation Supporting Institution" by the Small and Medium Business Administration. The designation allowed the university to bolster its support for entrepreneurism emerging new businesses that included incubators, mentoring support, and enhancing networking opportunities. Its national role catalyzed innovation, entrepreneurism, and expanded various sectors of local industries, as well as stimulating relationships between the university and the business community. Additionally, it provided a clear statement of the university's commitment to taking knowledge and ideas and contributing them to the block of real-time operations. In the year 2009, the university was conferred a charter as a full-fledged university academic institution from the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. This milestone was a defining moment in its history and reflected the development of the institution from a junior college to a fully established academic community. In 2010, the university hosted its first matriculation ceremony as a university, which program included graduates who would join a new generation of students in a growing community as a university. This transitional moment allowed the institution to expand its scope for programs, opportunities for research, and increased influence in developing Korea's educational landscape.
