Capital University of Somali is a non-state, non-profit university located in Mogadishu, Somalia.
Capital University of Somalia (CUS) rose from the ashes of conflict. Born in 2005, just over a decade after the devastating civil war, it was founded with a mission to rebuild higher education in Somalia. Driven by the non-profit Capital Foundation, CUS aimed to empower youth through quality education and engagement in research and knowledge development.
It established itself amidst a stark landscape. The Somali National University, once a beacon of learning, lay closed and shattered. CUS sought to fill the void, not only offering traditional disciplines like law and economics but also venturing into new domains relevant to the nation's future. Their unique focus on areas like computer science and engineering was a bold step towards equipping future generations with the tools to rebuild and thrive.
Despite its short history, CUS has earned recognition for its innovative approach. The Culture and Languages institute, a pre-university foundation program, has been applauded for strengthening students' English and scientific skills, preparing them for academic success. Capital University stands as a testament to the resilience of Somalis and their pursuit of knowledge. In a young yet ambitious journey, it strives to be a catalyst for transformation, nurturing tomorrow's leaders and shaping a brighter future for Somalia.
Capital University of Somali is ranked as the #5 top university in Somalia during 2024.
