King Abdulaziz University (KAU) is a public university in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

King Abdulaziz University (KAU) was founded in 1967 as a private university by a group of businessmen led by Muhammad Bakhashab and including author Hamza Bogary. It was named after the country's first monarch, King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud.

In 1973, KAU joined the Saudi public universities' system. At the time, KAU had only 1,500 students and 200 faculty members. However, the university quickly grew in size and prestige.

In 1975, KAU established its first medical college. In 1977, the university established its first engineering college. In 1980, KAU established its first graduate college.

KAU is a coeducational university, and it attracts students from all over Saudi Arabia and the world. The university has a strong international reputation, and it has partnerships with universities all over the world.
