University of Saint La Salle is a Catholic private research university run by the De La Salle Brothers, located in La Salle Avenue, Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines.

In the early 1950s, the De La Salle Brothers, a Catholic religious congregation renowned for their commitment to education, recognized an urgent need for a school in Bacolod, a bustling city on the island of Negros Occidental in the Philippines. At that time, Bacolod was experiencing significant growth and development, driven by its thriving sugar industry and an influx of residents seeking opportunities. This dynamic environment created an increasing demand for quality educational institutions that could cater to the diverse needs of the community.

With the support of local benefactors and the blessing of the Catholic Church, the De La Salle Brothers embarked on the mission of establishing a new school. They acquired a strategic piece of land in the heart of Bacolod, which would serve as the foundation for their educational vision. Construction began on a modest building designed to accommodate the initial batch of students. On June 16, 1952, the school officially opened its doors, welcoming students for primary and secondary education. The inaugural class was small, but it marked the beginning of a legacy that would shape the educational landscape of the region.
