University of La Salette is a private Catholic, coeducational basic and higher education institution.
In the early 1950s, the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette, a Catholic religious order, sought to establish a foothold in the Philippines, aiming to spread the Catholic faith and provide quality education. They chose Santiago, Isabela, a growing center of commerce and agriculture in the northern part of the country, as their base, recognizing its potential for community development and a strong need for educational resources. With the support of the local Catholic Church and generous benefactors, the Missionaries established an educational institution in Santiago, opening its doors in 1951. Initially offering basic education programs, the founders envisioned a comprehensive institution serving the educational needs of the region from primary to tertiary levels, thus laying the groundwork for a transformative educational experience that would empower future leaders.
Over the years, the school expanded to include secondary education and higher education programs. The curriculum was designed to provide a strong foundation in liberal arts and sciences, along with specialized training in various fields, ensuring that students were well-equipped for future challenges in a rapidly changing world, fostering critical thinking and ethical responsibility. Like any educational institution, the school faced challenges, including economic downturns, natural disasters, and social unrest. However, the resilience of its faculty, staff, and students allowed the school to persevere, fostering a strong sense of community and shared purpose during difficult times, which ultimately strengthened its bonds and commitment to its mission.
Today, the school stands as a testament to the vision and dedication of its founders, having produced countless graduates who have made significant contributions to society. Its legacy of education and faith continues to inspire generations of students and serves as a beacon of hope in the community, reinforcing the values of service and commitment instilled by its founders while encouraging students to carry those principles into their own lives and careers.
