Romblon State University

Romblon State University is a public university located in Odiongan, Romblon, Philippines.

The university's history began in 1962 when the Romblon Provincial Board established the Romblon Trade School. This school was created to address the growing need for skilled workers in the province, recognizing the importance of vocational education in supporting local industries and economic development. In 1963, the school was converted into the Romblon Vocational School, offering a wider range of vocational courses, including trades such as carpentry, plumbing, and electrical work, which were essential for the region’s workforce.

In 1978, the Romblon Vocational School was elevated to Romblon State College (RSC) by virtue of Presidential Decree No. 1322. This marked a significant milestone in the institution's history as it transitioned from a vocational school to a state college, reflecting the government’s commitment to enhancing educational opportunities in the province. RSC expanded its offerings to include academic programs alongside vocational courses, allowing students to pursue higher education in fields such as education, business, and engineering, thereby broadening the college's appeal and accessibility.

In 1994, RSC was further upgraded to Romblon State University (RSU) through Republic Act No. 7722. This elevation granted RSU the authority to offer graduate programs and conduct research, significantly enhancing its academic profile. The university's mandate expanded to include not only providing quality education but also contributing to the socio-economic development of the Romblon province. This shift positioned RSU as a key player in regional development, fostering partnerships with local government units and industries to address pressing community needs.

Over the years, RSU has grown and evolved into a comprehensive university with multiple campuses and a diverse range of programs. It now offers undergraduate and graduate degrees across various disciplines, including agriculture, engineering, information technology, and public administration. The university has established itself as a leading institution in the region, offering quality education and training to its students while promoting research and innovation to solve local issues.

The university's commitment to excellence and service has been instrumental in its success, enabling it to produce graduates who are not only academically prepared but also socially responsible. By engaging in community outreach and development projects, RSU has played a vital role in uplifting the quality of life in Romblon, ensuring that education remains a catalyst for positive change. Today, RSU stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, continuing to empower students and foster growth in the province and beyond.
