The Lyceum of the Philippines University is a private, non-sectarian, coeducational higher education institution located in Intramuros in the City of Manila, Philippines.

The institution traces its roots to the Lyceum of Batangas, founded in 1938 by Dr. José P. Laurel, a significant figure in Philippine history who served as the country's president during the Japanese occupation. His vision for quality education laid the groundwork for what would become a prominent educational institution in the Philippines, serving generations of students seeking to advance their knowledge. In 1952, Dr. Laurel established the Lyceum of the Philippines in Intramuros, Manila, starting in a rented building before soon acquiring its own campus. Rapid growth followed in the ensuing decades, with the establishment of its first satellite campus in Batangas City in 1962. The 1970s and 1980s saw further diversification of academic programs, with the establishment of key colleges such as the College of Medicine in 1973, the College of Law in 1975, the College of Engineering in 1977, and the College of Nursing in 1982. In the 1990s and 2000s, the focus shifted towards enhancing academic quality and infrastructure, while also expanding international partnerships. Joining the Association of Southeast Asian Institutions of Higher Learning (ASEAH) in 2001 and receiving university status from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) in 2003 were significant milestones that further established its credibility and global presence, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Today, the institution stands as one of the largest and most respected universities in the Philippines, offering a wide array of undergraduate and graduate programs across various fields.
