The institution traces its roots to the Lyceum of Manila, a secondary school founded in 1907 by Dr. Pedro Gil, who envisioned an educational hub that would nurture young minds in the Philippines. This school later evolved into the Lyceum of the Philippines College in 1952, marking the beginning of a new chapter focused on higher education and broader academic pursuits. In 1952, José P. Laurel, the third president of the Republic of the Philippines, established the Lyceum of the Philippines University with the intention of providing quality education to the Filipino people. Under Laurel's guidance, the university experienced rapid growth, expanding its academic offerings and establishing new campuses across the Philippines.
