Central Mindanao University

Central Mindanao University is a research state university located in the heart of Mindanao Island, province of Bukidnon, Philippines.

The history of Central Mindanao University (CMU) can be traced back to 1910, when it was founded as the Mailag Industrial School. The school was established by the Americans to provide vocational training to the indigenous people of Bukidnon.

In 1918, the school was renamed the Bukidnon National Agricultural School (BNAS) and offered the last three grades of the elementary agriculture curriculum. In 1941, BNAS was upgraded to a secondary school.

During World War II, BNAS was closed and its facilities were used by the Japanese military. After the war, the school was reopened and continued to offer secondary and elementary agriculture education.

In 1965, BNAS was converted into a university and renamed Central Mindanao University by virtue of Republic Act No. 4498. CMU was mandated to offer undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, and other related fields.

Since its conversion into a university, CMU has grown and expanded significantly. The university now offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs in a variety of fields.

CMU also houses a number of research centers and institutes, including the Institute of Tropical Agriculture, the Institute of Forestry, and the Institute of Veterinary Medicine. These centers conduct research on a wide range of topics, including agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, and environmental science.

CMU is also a major center for culture and the arts. The university has a number of cultural groups and organizations, including the CMU Chorale, the CMU Dance Troupe, and the CMU Theater Group. CMU also hosts a number of cultural events each year, such as the CMU Cultural Festival and the CMU Arts Festival.
