Cavite State University Main Campus, also known as the Don Severino delas Alas Campus, is located in Indang, Cavite, Philippines.
The roots of the university can be traced back to the early 1900s. In 1904, the American colonial government established a primary school in Indang, Cavite. This school gradually evolved into a secondary school, providing educational opportunities to local residents. Over the decades, the school's curriculum expanded and its reputation grew. Recognizing the need for higher education in the region, the Philippine government established a teacher education college on the same site in 1954. This marked a significant milestone in the institution's history, as it began to offer undergraduate degrees.
The late 1970s witnessed a period of rapid growth and transformation. In 1979, the teacher education college was converted into a state university, expanding its academic offerings to include a wider range of disciplines. This transition allowed the institution to cater to a more diverse student population and contribute to the intellectual and economic development of the province. Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, the university continued to expand its facilities and programs. New campuses were established in other parts of Cavite, and the curriculum was modernized to meet the evolving needs of the region. The university also began to engage in research and community service activities, contributing to the overall well-being of its constituents.
The turn of the millennium marked a new era for the university. In 1999, the institution adopted a new vision and mission, reaffirming its commitment to providing quality education to the masses. The university expanded its access programs to reach underserved communities and implemented initiatives to improve student retention and graduation rates. In recent years, the university has continued to evolve and adapt to the challenges and opportunities presented by the 21st century. It has embraced technology, invested in research and innovation, and strengthened its partnerships with industry and government. Today, the university stands as a leading institution of higher education in Cavite, serving as a catalyst for development and a source of pride for its community.
