Aklan State University

Aklan State University is a provincial state university located in Aklan province, Philippines.

Aklan State University (ASU) traces its roots to the Banga Intermediate School, established in 1917 through a resolution passed by the Provincial Board of Aklan. This initial school laid the foundation for the future growth of the institution. In 1947, the Banga Intermediate School was converted into the Aklan Agricultural College. This marked a significant expansion of the institution's scope and focus, as it began to offer agricultural education and training.

Recognizing the institution's achievements and contributions to the region, the Aklan Agricultural College was elevated to the Aklan State College of Agriculture (ASCA) in 1992. This upgrade was made possible by Republic Act No. 7371, sponsored by Congressman Ramon B. Legaspi Sr. In a further milestone, ASCA was granted university status in 2001. President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo signed Republic Act 9055, officially establishing the Aklan State University. This transformation allowed ASU to offer a wider range of programs and services, solidifying its position as a leading educational institution in the region.

The university's motto is "Knowledge, Service, and Progress." This motto reflects the institution's commitment to providing quality education, serving its community, and contributing to the advancement of knowledge and society. Since its establishment as a university, Aklan State University has continued to grow and develop.
