Adamson University is a private Roman Catholic university in Manila, Philippines.
The university's history can be traced back to the founding of the Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry in 1932, by Dr. George Lucas Adamson. Dr. Adamson, a Greek chemist and industrialist, started the school in hope of providing quality education in the field of chemistry and its allied programs. The Adamson School of Industrial Chemistry was elevated to university status and became Adamson University in 1935. In subsequent decades, the school modified its offerings to include programs in engineering, commerce, and education. The university continued to grow and have a bigger student population, especially during the post-war years.
In the 1970s and 1980s, this university acted as a significant partner in the economic development of the nation, training a substantial number of practitioners in many fields. Of course, there were trying moments for the university the country faced political and economic difficulties. The university revitalized itself in the 1990's with new programs, buildings, and new initiatives every year. Now, in the 21st century, the university has continued to expand its programs as well as its standing as a leading higher education institution in the Philippines. The university continues to promote the development of its academic programs, research, and partnerships with international educational institutions.
