University of the Pacific

University of the Pacific, Peru is a private university located in the Jesús María District of Lima, Peru.

The history of the University of the Pacific, Peru (Universidad del Pacífico, UP) began on February 28, 1962. At that time, a group of personalities from the business sector, with the support of the Society of Jesus, founded the University as a center for education and research which should transcend the country's borders.

The University's founders envisioned an institution that would prepare students to lead in the business world and to contribute to the development of Peru. They believed that a strong education in business was essential for Peru's economic growth and social progress.

UP began its operations in 1963 with three undergraduate programs: Economics, Business Administration, and Accounting. The University quickly gained a reputation for its academic excellence and its focus on practical, hands-on learning.

In 1965, UP moved to its current premises on Avenida Salaverry, in the district of Jesús María. This new campus allowed the University to expand its facilities and programs.

In the early 1970s, UP founded its Research Center (CIUP). CIUP has conducted important research on a variety of topics, including economics, business, and public policy.

In 1978, UP established its first postgraduate program: the Master of Business Administration (MBA). The MBA program has since become one of the most prestigious MBA programs in Peru.

In the 1980s and 1990s, UP continued to expand its academic offerings. It launched new undergraduate and postgraduate programs in a variety of fields, including engineering, architecture, and law.

In the 2000s and 2010s, UP continued to grow and develop. It invested heavily in new facilities and technology, and it launched a number of initiatives to promote diversity and inclusion.

Today, the University of the Pacific, Peru is a leading institution of higher education in Latin America. It is known for its academic excellence, its focus on practical learning, and its commitment to social responsibility.
