National University of Engineering is a public engineering and science university located in the Rímac District of Lima, Peru.
The history of the National University of Engineering (UNI) can be traced back to 1876, when it was founded as the Special School of Civil Construction and Mines of Peru. The school was established by the Polish engineer Edward Jan Habich, who was hired by the Peruvian government to help develop the country's infrastructure.
In the early years, the school offered a limited number of programs, but it quickly expanded its curriculum to include other engineering disciplines. In 1902, the school was renamed the School of Engineers (Escuela de Ingenieros).
In 1955, the school was granted university status and became the National University of Engineering. Since then, UNI has grown to become one of Peru's most prestigious educational institutions.
