University of Lagos, popularly known as UNILAG, is a public research university located in Lagos, Nigeria.

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) was founded in 1962, two years after Nigeria's independence from Britain. It was one of the first five universities established in the country, and it was initially intended to serve as a regional university for the Western Region of Nigeria. However, the university's catchment area was soon expanded to include the entire country. UNILAG's first campus was located in Yaba, a suburb of Lagos. The university initially consisted of three faculties: Arts, Education, and Science. However, the university soon expanded to include a number of other faculties, including Engineering, Law, and Medicine.
