Kogi State University

Kogi State University, also known as Prince Abubakar Audu University, is a public university located in Anyigba, Kogi State, Nigeria.

The university was founded in 1999 by Prince Abubakar Audu, who was then the governor of the state. His vision was to provide quality higher education to the people of Kogi State and surrounding areas. The institution was established with the aim of enhancing access to higher learning and contributing to the socio-economic development of the region. It was originally named Kogi State University and later renamed Prince Abubakar Audu University in his honor. This change reflected the significant contributions of the late governor to the establishment and development of the university. The renaming further solidified the university’s connection to its founding father and its ongoing mission of academic excellence.

The university began academic activities in April 2000 with six faculties and has since expanded to include additional faculties such as Medicine and Education. This expansion allowed the institution to diversify its offerings and meet the growing demand for higher education. Over the years, the university has continued to increase its academic programs and research initiatives, establishing itself as a key player in the educational landscape of the region. It also offers pre-degree and diploma programs, catering to a wide range of students with varying academic needs.
