Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa

Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa, also known as FedPolyNas or FPN, is a tertiary institution located in Nasarawa, Nasarawa State, Nigeria.

The polytechnic in Nasarawa, Nigeria, was established in 1983 by the Federal Government with the goal of promoting technological advancement and fostering societal development. This initiative aimed to meet the growing demand for skilled professionals in various sectors, contributing to the nation’s progress. The polytechnic officially began operations in January 1984, initially enrolling 220 students across two schools: the School of Environmental and Business Studies. At this early stage, the institution operated from the Central Primary School as a temporary base, reflecting its humble beginnings.In 1985, the polytechnic achieved a key milestone when all the academic programs offered received accreditation. This recognition validated the institution’s commitment to providing quality education and enhancing its academic reputation. The successful accreditation also paved the way for further expansion and growth in the subsequent years, which helped to solidify the polytechnic’s place in Nigeria’s educational landscape.

By 1986, the polytechnic had further diversified its academic offerings with the introduction of Higher National Diploma (HND) programs in Business Administration and Management, as well as Accountancy. This development marked the beginning of a broader academic spectrum that would continue to grow over the years, offering students advanced courses designed to equip them with the practical skills needed for the workforce. The introduction of these programs not only added depth to the institution’s curriculum but also increased its appeal to students looking for more specialized qualifications.
