Mohammed V University - Souissi is a public Moroccan university located in Rabat.
Mohammed V University - Souissi was founded in 1957 by King Mohammed V, the first sovereign of independent Morocco. It was the first modern university in Morocco after the University of al-Qarawiyyin in Fez. The university was named after Mohammed V in recognition of his role in leading Morocco to independence.
In the early years, the university offered a limited number of programs in the fields of law, literature, and science. However, the university quickly grew and expanded its offerings. In 1993, Mohammed V University was divided into two independent universities: Mohammed V University at Agdal and Mohammed V University at Souissi. The two universities were reunited in 2015.
