Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy

Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) is a medical university located in Chișinău, Moldova. It is the oldest and largest medical university in the country.

The Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) was founded in 1945, following the transfer of the First Leningrad Medical Institute to Chișinău, Moldova. The institute began its activity with only one faculty, that of General Medicine, which had 32 departments and 1000 students. The didactic process was performed by 130 professors, including 20 habilitated doctors and 23 doctors in medical science.

In the early years, the institute was faced with a number of challenges, including a shortage of qualified staff and resources. However, the institute's leadership was able to overcome these challenges and develop the institution into a leading medical education and research center in the Soviet Union.

In 1990, the institute was renamed after Nicolae Testemiţanu, a Moldovan scientist and statesman who made significant contributions to the development of healthcare in Moldova.

In 1995, the institute was reorganized into a university and became known as the Nicolae Testemiţanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy.

Over the years, USMF has trained thousands of doctors, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals who are now working in Moldova and around the world. The university's graduates are highly sought-after by employers due to their excellent training and qualifications.
