Moldova State University

Moldova State University (USM), also known as Universitatea de Stat din Moldova, is a prestigious public university located in Chișinău, the capital of Moldova.

Emerging from the ashes of post-war Moldova, Chisinau State University (later to become USM) opened its doors on October 1, 1946, offering a modest yet vital beacon of higher education. With just five faculties – Physics and Mathematics, Geology and Soil Science, Biology, Chemistry, and History and Philology – and a dedicated team of 35 teachers, the university welcomed its first 320 students.
