Karaganda State Industrial University

The Karaganda State Industrial University, also known as Karaganda Industrial University (KIU), is a leading university in Kazakhstan with a strong focus on the mining and metallurgical industry.

Karaganda State Industrial University's history is intertwined with the rise of Kazakhstan's industrial might. Founded in 1963 as the evening branch of the Karaganda Polytechnic Institute, it emerged from the need for skilled engineers to fuel the booming Temirtau metallurgical plant.

As the city of Temirtau grew, so did the demand for a dedicated educational institution. Thus, in 1973, the evening branch transformed into the independent Karaganda Industrial Institute, and later, in 1996, it attained its current university status.

Today, it stands as a leading Kazakh university, preparing generations of specialists for the country's industrial backbone.
