German-Jordanian University

The German-Jordanian University (GJU) is a public university located in Mushaqar, Jordan.

The history of the German-Jordanian University (GJU) dates back to 2002, when the governments of Jordan and Germany signed a memorandum of understanding on the establishment of a German-style university in Jordan. In 2004, a founding committee was established, and the university was officially founded in 2005 by royal decree.

GJU was modeled on the German Fachhochschulen (universities of applied sciences) model, characterized by its focus on putting knowledge into practice and on promoting knowledge transfer. The university's aim is to play a significant role in promoting links between Jordan and Europe, particularly Germany.

GJU opened its doors to students in 2006, with an initial enrollment of around 500 students. The university has since grown rapidly.

GJU has a strong international focus, with partnerships with over 120 German universities and other universities around the world. The university also offers a number of international programs, such as the Germany Year, which allows students to spend one year studying in Germany.
