Osaka University

Osaka University is a public research university located in Suita, Osaka Prefecture, Japan. It is one of the oldest and most prestigious universities in Japan. Its history can be traced back to 1724, when the Kaitokudō, a school for samurai and merchants, was founded in Osaka. In 1838, the Tekijuku, a school for the study of Western sciences, was also founded in Osaka. In 1931, the Kaitokudō and the Tekijuku merged to form Osaka University.
