Kyushu University

Kyushu University (九州大学, Kyūshū Daigaku), abbreviated as Kyudai (九大), is a Japanese national university located in Fukuoka, on the island of Kyushu. It is one of Japan's top research universities.

The history of Kyushu University can be traced back to the medical schools of the Fukuoka Domain, which were established in 1867. The school was reorganized into Fukuoka Medical College of Kyoto Imperial University in 1903. It became independent as Kyushu Imperial University in 1911.

Kyushu Imperial University was one of the first seven imperial universities in Japan, and was founded with the goal of developing the Kyushu region and promoting higher education in Japan. The university initially had three faculties: Medicine, Engineering, and Agriculture. In 1917, the Faculty of Science was established, and in 1924, the Faculty of Literature was established.

After World War II, Kyushu Imperial University was renamed Kyushu University. The university continued to grow and expand, and new faculties were established, including the Faculty of Law and the Faculty of Economics. In 1964, the university moved to its current campus in Fukuoka City.

Today, Kyushu University is one of the largest and most prestigious universities in Japan.

Kyushu University has played a major role in the development of the Kyushu region. The university's graduates have gone on to become leaders in business, industry, and government. Kyushu University is also a major center for research and development, and its contributions to the local economy are significant.
