University of Siena

University of Siena is a highly regarded public university for research, located in the middle of Tuscany in Italy.

It was established in 1240 and was the first publicly funded university in Italy and one of the oldest in the world. Its founding was a direct result of a 13th century migration of students from the University of Bologna, an institution it emulated as a stadium generel, which welcomed students from throughout Europe and granted degrees that were recognized far and wide.
