Islamic Azad University Central Tehran Branch

The Islamic Azad University Central Tehran Branch is the oldest, largest, and top university among all branches of the Islamic Azad University academic organization. 

It was established in 1982, originally as the Islamic Azad University of Tehran. Over the decades, it has played a crucial role in shaping Iran’s higher education landscape, producing thousands of graduates across various disciplines. With a commitment to academic excellence and innovation, the university has maintained its reputation as a leading institution in the region. The university was founded to address the challenges posed during the early years of the Iranian Revolution and to meet increasing demands of secondary-school graduates for higher education in Iran. The university began as the Islamic Azad University of Tehran when it opened its doors to about 200 students, offering six majors in bachelor's degree and two in associate degree. Its early years were marked by rapid growth and a strong emphasis on expanding access to quality education. Soon after, the university expanded to its current location in Tehran, developing state-of-the-art facilities and a robust academic structure.
