The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Hong Kong. It was founded in 1963 as a federation of three existing colleges: Chung Chi College, New Asia College, and United College. These colleges were originally founded in mainland China during the Chinese Civil War, but were relocated to Hong Kong in the early 1950s.
CUHK was established with the mission to combine tradition with modernity, and to bring together China and the West. It quickly became a leading university in Asia.
