Wollega University

Wollega University, also known as Nekemte University is a public university which is situated in Nekemte, Ethiopia.

The university is established in 2007. The vision of the university was to provide higher quality education that aimed to support the development of the region. After its establishment the institution was dedicated to provide academic programs on various fields according to the need of the community and studdents and expertise them with skill and knowledge that can contribute in the society. It has expanded over time to offer a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The programs are geared towards meeting the demands of an ever-changing world through innovation, research, and practice. The institution still delivers on its promise of equipping graduates for life in different industries.

In order to enhance the accessibility and impact, The university operates on a multi-campus system. Its parent campus is located at Nekemte, which is also the center of its academic, along with administrative operations. It also has two branch campuses at Gimbi and Shambu, which have further expanded the wings of knowledge for the students of surrounding areas and reinforcing its quest for inclusiveness. The university today is also contributing significantly towards regional development and education.
