Addis Ababa Science and Technology University

Addis Ababa Science and Technology University is a public university based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The university was established in 2011 and was a noteworthy development in Ethiopia’s higher education landscape. It emerged with the unique purpose of becoming the specialized institution of science and technology. The creation of the institution coincides with the Ethiopian government's goal to develop through science and technology to accelerate industrialization and economic transformation. The institution was created to respond the demand for trained professionals in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). The government recognized the great role of human resources in a nation’s development, and consequently wanted to establish a university that would train graduates with the knowledge and skills necessary for Ethiopia’s development.
