VSB-Technical University of Ostrava

VSB-Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO) is a public university located in Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The history of VSB-Technical University of Ostrava (VSB-TUO) dates back to 1849, when the Montane Study School was founded in Příbram, Czech Republic. The school was established to train mining engineers and other technical professionals for the region's growing mining industry. In 1921, the school was moved to Ostrava, a major industrial city in the Moravian-Silesian Region.

In 1945, the school was renamed the Mining Academy of Ostrava. In 1952, the academy was expanded to include new faculties of engineering, economics, and information technology. In 1994, the name of the school was changed to VSB-Technical University of Ostrava.
