Yan'an University

Yan'an University is a comprehensive university located in Yan'an, Shaanxi province, China.

This university's roots trace back to a period of immense change in China. Founded in 1941, during the throes of revolution, it holds the distinction of being the first comprehensive university established by the Communist Party of China. The very name of the university was bestowed by Mao Zedong himself, solidifying its connection to this pivotal moment in history. 

Initially, the university served a specific purpose – to educate and support the burgeoning revolutionary movement. Several smaller institutions, including the Shaanxi Northern Public School and the China Women's University, merged to form this new entity.  As the revolution triumphed and China entered a new era, the university evolved as well. In 1958, after a brief closure, it was rebuilt. A significant merger in 1998 with Yan'an Medical College further expanded its offerings to include medicine.

Beyond academics, campus life fosters a vibrant atmosphere. With eighteen departments, an independent college, and ten affiliated hospitals, the university provides a dynamic environment for students to learn, explore, and grow.  The motto of the university embodies this spirit, likely emphasizing ideals of progress, knowledge, and dedication. It aims to cultivate well-rounded graduates equipped to contribute meaningfully to society and navigate the complexities of the modern world.
