Xuzhou Normal University

Jiangsu Normal University, formerly known as Xuzhou Normal University, is a provincial key university located in Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, China.

In 1952, amidst a burgeoning need for qualified educators, a teacher training institution sprouted roots in the fertile ground of China's higher education system. This fledgling institution, initially named the Jiangsu Wuxi Business Cadre School, embarked on a journey that would see it transform into a leading comprehensive university. The 1950s witnessed a period of metamorphosis for the young institution. Reflecting the dynamic needs of the educational landscape, it underwent several name changes – Jiangsu Training School for Middle-School Teachers in 1956, and Jiangsu Normal School in 1957. In 1958, a significant shift occurred as the school relocated to its current home in Xuzhou. 

This move wasn't made in isolation; it coincided with a merger with another local institution, solidifying the establishment of Xuzhou Normal College. This college held a special distinction – it was the sole undergraduate college catering to the northern Jiangsu province, a responsibility it shouldered with dedication. However, the story doesn't end there. The year 2011 marked another pivotal point. The college cast off its regional focus and embraced a broader identity, transforming into the Jiangsu Normal University we know today. This metamorphosis signified a crucial shift – the university was no longer solely dedicated to teacher education.
