Wenzhou University

Wenzhou University is a comprehensive public university in Wenzhou, Zhejiang province, China.

The roots of this esteemed university actually stretch back further than its official founding in 1984. The seeds were sown in 1933 with the establishment of the Wenzhou Normal School, a testament to the spirit of education even during challenging times. This school served as the foundation upon which the future university would be built.

Fast forward to 1956, and a new chapter began with the creation of Wenzhou Normal College. This marked a significant step towards the comprehensive university it would become. Over the following decades, the institution grew through a series of mergers with other educational institutions in the region. Wenzhou Education College, Wenzhou Preschool Normal School, Ruian Normal School, Pingyang Normal School, and a previous iteration of Wenzhou University itself all played a role in shaping the current university's identity.

Finally, in 1984, the culmination of these efforts arrived with the official establishment of the university we know today. This marked a new era of growth and development. The university expanded its academic offerings, constructed its scenic Chashan University Town campuses, and solidified its position as a leading educational institution in the region.
